Seán Maguire

Bodhrán, Fiddle, Piano, Kit Drums

Seán has been playing the bodhrán since he was 6 years old.  In 2014, aged 9, he was crowned Leinster Under-12 Bodhrán Champion.  His bodhrán solos have become a regular feature of the band’s performances and never fail to wow audiences.

Seán is also learning to play the fiddle and the rhythm of his bodhrán playing comes through in his fiddle playing.  Who knows, maybe some day he’ll take after his namesake, the late great fiddle player Seán McGuire from Belfast who is famed for his definitive version of that great fiddle tune “The Mason’s Apron”.  Our Seán hasn’t quite mastered that tune on the fiddle yet , but his sister, Emma, does a mighty lively rendition of it, ably accompanied by Seán on the bodhrán.
